On the occasion of the last day of the festivities for the platinum jubilee of Elizabeth II, the British sovereign came to greet the crowd on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, this Sunday, June 5.
A presence that everyone was hoping for. After having canceled his visit to several events organized for the jubilee of the 70 years of his reign, Elizabeth IIappeared this Sunday, June 5, around 6 p.m., on the balcony of Buckingham Palacefrom where she had launched the four days of celebrations this Thursday.
For this great moment, the monarch was dressed in a long coat and a hat, both green. The queen also took the opportunity to greet the crowd gathered on the Mall, the avenue leading to the palace. She was accompanied by her son, Prince Charles and his wife Camilia, as well as Prince William, his wife Duchess Kate, and the couple’s three children George, Charlotte and Louis. In the wake of this appearance, the British anthem “God save the Queen” sounded.
For this final day of the celebrations, a parade took place through central London. The spectators present were able to see a 260-year-old golden carriage parade, soldiers in ceremonial dress from all over the Commonwealth, then actors, dancers and also puppets of corgis, the Queen’s favorite dogs.
Elizabeth II absent from the main events of her jubilee
After appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on the first day of the festivities, Elizabeth II is stayed away from the main events. Aged 96 and suffering from difficulties in getting around, the sovereign did not attend the religious ceremony on Friday, nor the horse races on Saturday, nor the giant concert in front of her palace. She also did not speak in public, but still reserved a nice surprise for the British. The monarch has indeed made a surprise appearance in a short humorous video released before the start of the big concert, where she have tea with Paddingtonthe clumsy bear of British children’s literature.
