The rule, explained, is clear: “A Netflix account is intended for people who live together in the same household”. Devices detected in other locations may therefore be prevented from watching Netflix.
To know precisely where you are and thus restrict access accordingly, the service will use certain information such as “IP address, device ID and account activity from devices connected to the Netflix account”, is it written.
Anyone who is a member of your household, i.e. who lives with you and therefore shares your main address, can use your Netflix account. (…) If the device used to watch Netflix uses the main account holder’s household internet connection, we will not ask for verification. If a Netflix account is used by a device that is not associated with the primary account holder’s household, the device will need to be verified before it can be used to watch Netflix. This verification allows us to confirm that the device using the account is authorized to do so.
A link to the holder’s email address or phone number

To verify a device, the platform says it will do the following: “Netflix will send a link to the email address or phone number associated with the primary account holder. This link will open a page containing a four-way confirmation code. digits. This code will need to be entered on the affected device within 15 minutes. If the code expires, you will need to request another confirmation code from the affected device. Once the code is entered, that device can be used to watch Netflix. Device verification may be required periodically,” Netflix wrote.
Login at least once every 31 days
Concretely, Netflix will now require its users to connect to the Wifi network of their main address. at least once every 31 daysfrom their TV app or smartphone, to confirm their “Netflix household”.
