What is the plot of the High Isle expansion?
The High Isle chapter is part of The Elder Scrolls Online’s Breton Legacy saga. It offers the player to embark on the former home of the Bretons via a main quest that is part of the Legacy of the Bretons. The latter asks to unmask a secret order of knights led by the enigmatic Lord Ascendant as well as the Magus Ascendant, dark characters ready to draw a line under the peace talks of the War of the Three Standards. If no one can stop them, they will plunge all of Tamriel into a bloody war. Breton culture obliges, the heroes will have to face various devious traps while unraveling various political intrigues. All while finding themselves under the crossfire of three rival factions: the Dufort house, the Mornard house and the Unshakable society.
What are the new places to explore?
The new area to explore, the Systres Archipelago, is made up of Île-Haute and Île d’Amenos. These places never before explored in The Elder Scrolls feature towering cliffs, towering castles and lush jungles. The architectures to visit as well as the places to explore promise to be exotic. The artistic direction used brings a cachet that should appeal to regulars. These new places will make it possible to find some known protagonists.
What is Tales and Glories, the novelty of taverns?
Tales of Glory are described as “a new way to relax in Elder Scrolls Online”. What is it really about? Simply a collectible card game with which it is possible to face NPCs or friends, a bit like Hearthstone or Magic. The player can collect cards via the Tavern (a reserve of 5 cards) in order to form the best possible decks to beat his opponents. At the start of the game, each participant chooses two decks that are linked to two mentors. These mentors can be summoned during the game, granting the player who initiated the action special bonuses. The goal is obviously to chain devastating actions to win the duel. There are two victory conditions: either the player accumulates 40 Prestige, or he succeeds in obtaining the favors of the four Mentors. In this turn-based card game, players have 90 seconds to decide. Eight mentor decks are available, each centered around a house or individual in Tamriel. The first four decks (Celaros Loremaster, Delmene Hlaalu, Duke of Ravens, and Saint Pekin) are available after completing the tutorial. The final four are unlocked by completing special quests.
What else is new?
The High Isle expansion also contains a new raid (12 person PVE) called Doomsail Reef, new world events called Rifts, and new bosses, side quests, dungeons, and never-before-seen lairs. Additionally, this chapter brings collectibles and rewards that the adventurer will not find anywhere else on Nirn. Finally, two new companions enter the arena: Braise (a Khajiit) and Isobel (a Breton). They will benefit from dedicated quests as well as a more developed backstory than the other companions.
Elder Scrolls Online’s High Isle expansion will release June 6, 2022 on PC and Mac. It will arrive on June 21, 2022 on Xbox One, Xbos Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
