This meeting between Charles III and Liz Truss is worthy of “The Office”
UNITED KINGDOM – Awkward footage at Buckingham. On Wednesday October 12, Charles III held his first weekly meeting with Prime Minister Liz Truss, and the least we can say is that the meeting started in a strange way.
After passing through the cabinet doors and curtsying, Liz Truss greeted the king warmly: “ Majesty, it’s a pleasure to see you again “, she said with a big smile. An apparent sign of joy which contrasted particularly with the attitude of Charles III who, seeming tired, dropped between his teeth a ” Back ! My God, oh my God. Anyway… “. An exchange was filmed and quickly made the rounds on social networks

” A scene straight out of “The Office””, jokes on Twitter a British diplomat. But Charles III will have to get used to it, because this tete-a-tete will take place every Wednesday without exception. As head of state, he must confer with the Prime Minister on the affairs of the country.
The sequence aroused the hilarity of Internet users on Twitter:

Stormy times for Liz Truss
It must be said that this meeting takes place in a particularly complex context for Liz Truss, while criticism against her is increasing within her majority. Some Conservative MPs are indeed calling on her to reconsider her controversial budget announcements while her government is trying somehow to defend her.
Note that it is exceptional for cameras to be present during this meeting. They were only authorized to immortalize this first meeting of its kind between the new king and the new Prime Minister. Otherwise, the conversations that take place during this hearing “are entirely private” and no transcription or written recording is permitted.
During her lifetime, Queen Elizabeth II made it a point of honor to attend all these meetings, even a few days before her death. She received 15 prime ministers during her 70-year reign.
