Game News Xbox 360: 10 games that went (almost) unnoticed despite their qualities
Released on December 2, 2005 in Europe, the Xbox 360 quickly met with success thanks to an aggressive price, an absence of competition during the first year as well as interesting titles. When we talk about Microsoft’s second console, we immediately think of Gears of War, Halo 3, Fable 2 or even BioShock. However, there are other more than successful creations that have arrived… without raising the crowds. We come back to 10 games released on Xbox 360 that went almost unnoticed despite their many qualities, whether or not they were exclusive to the support.

Alpha-Protocol
Alpha Protocol is one of those few games generally poorly rated by the specialized press but which today has a good reputation with the public. Rated 63/100 on Metacritic, SEGA’s game has a user rating of 72/100. Developed by Obsidian, a studio acquired by Microsoft in 2018, Alpha Protocol is a contemporary Action-RPG steeped in the world of espionage. Equipped with a dialogue system inspired by that of Mass Effect, the SEGA software allows you to make choices that have real consequences on the rest of the adventure.. This generates many endings according to the branches selected over the decisions. What forgive him, surely, the very present approximations of his gameplay.
Battle Block Theater
Party aboard his ship with his friends, Hatty Hattington is surprised by a storm and ends up on an island. The latter hides a strange theater as well as evil cats. We are not going to dwell on the totally barred scenario of BattleBlock Theater. We will just say that the platform game developed by The Behemoth must be in your toy library as it is fun and user-friendly.. Playable on Xbox Series X | S thanks to backward compatibility, it is fun in solo but becomes completely enjoyable in cooperation. For two, the levels of the campaign incorporate gameplay elements that require players to redouble their tricks to progress. An essential.
condemned
It’s hard not to mention Condemned in good games that are too little known, although the existence of a sequel suggests that SEGA was potentially satisfied with the sales of the original game. Condemned digs its hole in our most primal fears. It sends the player into filthy settings in the midst of enemies who lose their humanity over the levels. Endowed with violent clashes and blood-chilling sound effects, the software developed by Monolith creates an atmosphere as pestilential as it is disturbing.. A real first-person survival-horror where the player’s salvation depends on the makeshift weapons he manages to unearth (pipe, shovel, plank of wood, axe, paper cutter, etc.), Condemned also includes game elements. ‘investigation. It is playable on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility.
Hidden in Plain Sight
If you’re unfamiliar with Hidden in Plain Sight, that’s kind of normal. This XNA game (an independent games program from the Xbox 360 era) has never experienced any particular marketing campaign. Still, it’s one of the best multiplayer games ever made in video game history, we don’t mince words! Each mode of Hidden In Plan Sight revolves around the same mechanics: there are players who try to complete objectives in the middle of a crowd of NPCs, and other players who have to stop them. Blending into the environment is essential to avoid being eliminated by the attackers. To try it is to adopt it, despite its outdated graphics. Hidden in Plain Sight is now playable on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility.
Lost Odyssey
Lost Odyssey is perhaps the most well-known game on this list of good unsuccessful games. Shaped by the Japanese studio Mistwalker, definitely very productive at that time since it had released the friendly Blue Dragon the previous year, Lost Odyssey is a JRPG imagined by Hironobu Sakaguchi. The player embodies Kaim, an immortal warrior. This mysterious gift, obviously useful to avoid falling in battle, is seen as a curse by the mercenary. Condemned to see the people he meets disappear, Kaim struggles to remember his entire story. Thanks to its rich scenario and well-written characters, the software places the user at the center of a story full of emotions.. If classic JRPGs and reading don’t scare you, you should give this Lost Odyssey a chance, which is backwards compatible on Xbox Series X|S.
ninja blade
These days, it’s easy to forget that From Software has released several Xbox exclusives in the past. After Metal Wolf Chaos, both Otogi and Chromehounds, the Japanese developer offered a new cartridge exclusive to Microsoft with Ninja Blade in 2009. This third-person action game was widely criticized upon its release, from a partly because of its many similarities with Ninja Gaiden, and partly because of its multiple sequences involving QTEs. Nevertheless, Ninja Blade is a good beat’em all that is eye-popping, fast-paced and meticulously executed. It will satisfy your thirst for action and belligerent monsters.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is a rather atypical shoot’em up released during the Summer of Arcade 2011. Halfway between a PixelJunk Shooter and a Metroid, it places the player in a flying saucer that must evolve inside organic settings . The player progresses by completing various puzzles, eliminating opponents, and choosing the appropriate weapons to remove obstacles. The maze-like levels remain easily understandable, while the polished art direction is lovely. In general, the level design of the software is of good quality, although a little uneven. Alongside the awesome and the more than correct, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet combines good gameplay ideas and a very successful design. Good news, if you missed it, it’s backward compatible on Xbox Series X|S.
Shadows of the Damned
Everything seemed to come together to make Shadows of the Damned a successful new franchise. Developed by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil) and Suda 51 (Killer 7) with music by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), the project was published by Electronic Arts. With such names behind its design, Shadows of the Damned necessarily left under very good omens. In fact, it is a horrific action game where the hero, Garcia Hotspur, must save his sweetheart by going to hunt demons. The breathtaking gameplay is the strong point of this production which does not hesitate to overbid. Crazy in its tone, Shadows of the Damned is reserved for an informed public. Perhaps even a little too much to be a resounding success. The Grasshoppers app is backwards compatible on Xbox Series X|S.
table-tennis
When you hear someone say the name Rockstar, you immediately think of GTA or Red Dead. However, in 2006, the American developer delivered to Xbox 360 another game which deserves praise: Table Tennis. Yes, a game of ping-pong! Table Tennis is all about the gameplay. Thanks to topspin, cut, effect, drop or “extra” shots (particularly powerful special shot), he uses all the grammar of this sport. To win, you have to vary the attack and defense strategies and use the right techniques. With its 11 athletes to manage, its 3 different game modes and its 19 places to discover, the Rockstar title offers hours of happiness, alone or with others. If you like table tennis, it would be inconceivable to miss this game which has the good idea of being backward compatible on Xbox Series X|S.
The Gunstringer
To finish this selection, we could not miss The Gunstringer. It is one of the last games under the prolific studio Twisted Pixel’s Xbox stable (after Ms. Splosion Man and before LocoCycle). The Gunstringer is a humorous Kinect action game that runs in a unique way : the left hand is used to move the puppet while the index finger of the right hand is used to aim and shoot. A real third-person rail shooter, the Twisted Pixel title is refreshing. Funny, original, well done, it also allows two players to have fun in cooperation. If you have a Kinect and a good old Xbox 360 lying around, it’s time to give this hidden gem a chance.
